All the favourite characters from the original series are reimagined facing the challenges that come with growing old disgracefully in the era of the silver surfer.
At Bayview Retirement Village, battle-axe extraordinaire Diana Trent conspires with new resident Tom Ballard to give the conniving manager his comeuppance through a hilarious conspiracy with unexpectedly heart-warming results.
Characters
Diana Trent: elderly, witty and feisty
Tom Ballard: elderly, whimsical, lovely
Jane Edwards: 30s/40s, sad, flustered and lovesick
Harvey Baines: 30s/40s, vain and incompetent shyster
Sarah Chase/ Doctor: 30s. Diana’s niece, successful and charming
Geoffrey Ballard: 40s. Tom’s son. A dull clod and multiple cuckold.
Dennis Sparrow: elderly, dithering vicar and doubles as Basil in scene Two
Doctor Jenny Henry / Undertaker/ Milly Dawkins: Mature female who can multi role and push a coffin on and off. May suit ASM.
The audition will be in the form of an informal read through. You don't need to be a member of Saddleworth Players - but we'll happily sign you up! Membership is free).
