Bar Training
Come along to understand what's involved in volunteering on the bar
Monday 18th November
Making sure our audience are welcomed and looked after at shows is an important part of the volunteering at our community theatre. It's particularly important for the Panto , this year its Mother Goose and we have added more shows to raise funds for our 'Building the Future' appeal so need more support.
The bar is a vital part of the community for both Saddleworth Players and the wider Millgate Arts Centre. It's a social space - a place for our audiences to meet, to anticipate what they're about to see and to chat about what they enjoyed during the interval and after the show.
As an active member, it's a place for you to relax after taking part in a show, or catch up with friends (old and new!) when you come to see a show.
Crucially though, it's an important income generator which funds the running of the theatre - things like insurance, heating and lighting. Without bar volunteers, we wouldn't be able to operate the bar. And without the bar, we wouldn't be able to operate the theatre and do what we all enjoy - putting on shows!
That's why our bar volunteers are so important and why we encourage all members, whether they're actors, costumers or techies, to help out on the bar.
We'll have an informal walk through and answer any questions whether you want to be a bar volunteer on the Monday in Saddleworth Players shows (when there's a night off) You'll be able to pour some drinks , work the till and learn without customers !
See you at our community theatre
